Freelance landing page design & coding for the Japanese market

Landing pages that make the next step obvious.

I start by pinning down who the page is for, what they need to hear, and what you want them to do next. Then I take it from wireframe to design to code myself. You get a page that’s fast and easy to read on any phone, with clear pricing and a well-documented process.

Consultations and quotes are free. I reply within 24 hours on weekdays.

Sound familiar?

  • You get traffic from ads, but few inquiries.

You can’t see where visitors drop off, or what to fix.

  • You have too much to say, and the page loses focus.

You have plenty of strengths, but the one that matters most doesn’t come through.

  • On phones, it’s hard to read and slow to load.

Cramped text, buttons that are hard to tap, heavy images that take ages to appear.

  • Agency quotes blow past your budget.

You wanted one page, and the estimate came in far above what you’d planned.

  • Your last designer was hard to reach.

Slow replies, no idea how things were going, and every revision felt like a gamble.

Let’s work through these, starting with how the page is structured.

What you can count on

  1. Structure that starts from the goal

Before any design work, I pin down who the page is for, what they need to hear, and what you want them to do. Then I work backward from the goal (a download, a booking, an application) to set the order of sections and headings, and you review it as a wireframe first. Decisions aren’t made on looks alone, so I can always explain why the page is built the way it is.

  2. Fast, robust, easy-to-use pages

I build each page from scratch in HTML, CSS and JavaScript. No templates, no page builders. Image optimization, tap-friendly layouts, keyboard and screen-reader support: everything is checked against a list before launch. This site follows the same rules, and you can measure its speed yourself with the link below.

  3. Clear, prompt communication, shaped by bridge-SE work

For five years I worked as a bridge system engineer (BrSE), standing between Japanese clients and development teams to confirm requirements and align specifications. I bring the same habits to your project: replies within 24 hours on weekdays, progress updates twice a week, and written notes after every call so nothing gets lost. I hold JLPT N2 and work with you in Japanese.

  4. Vietnamese recruiting pages and English versions

Vietnamese is my native language. Alongside your Japanese page, I can build a Vietnamese version for recruiting staff from Vietnam, or an English version for international visitors (optional; for the English version, you supply the translated copy).

Concept works

I don’t have paid client projects to show yet as a freelancer. I’m building that record one project at a time. So I picked four fields where landing pages are widely used in Japan, and built a page for a fictional brand in each.

For every one, I defined an assumed client, a target audience and a conversion goal, then worked through planning, structure, design and coding. They’re all live pages, so try them on both your phone and your computer.

I use generative AI tools in my workflow. I set the structure and design direction myself, and I review and refine each page so I can explain every part of it.

HOSHURAKU: lead-generation LP for an inspection-reporting SaaS

A brochure-download page that tells busy maintenance managers what changes in one sentence, then asks for only four required fields.

    Industry

    Design decisions

    1. The first view states the change in one sentence, and the download button stays pinned to the top of the screen.
    2. A two-step form with only four required fields, to make the first step easy.
    3. Pricing, security and onboarding on one page, so readers have everything they need for internal approval.

    Design decisions

    1. Illustrations, generous whitespace and Mincho headings convey calm before the first visit.
    2. On phones, a fixed booking bar lets visitors book from anywhere on the page.
    3. Prices are shown as all-in totals, and no effects are promised, in line with Japan’s rules on beauty advertising.

    Design decisions

    1. Date, fee and format all appear in the first view, so visitors can tell right away whether they can attend.
    2. Concrete “who it’s for”, “what you’ll take away” and even “who it’s not for” sections.
    3. No pressure countdowns or seat counters, and the paid-course pitch is disclosed up front.

All works are concept pieces for fictional brands, with no connection to any real company, product or service. Figures, people, prices and job details on those pages are placeholders.

Wording follows general advertising guidelines. For real projects, legal review is the client’s responsibility.

Services & scope

I handle every stage of an LP project myself. Nothing gets handed off between people, so what you tell me in the first meeting carries straight through to design and code.

  • Design

Original design, no templates. Desktop and mobile, shared in Figma.

  • Coding

What I don’t do

I keep to what I can do well. For the following, please arrange a specialist.

  • Photo and video shoots
  • Illustration and logo design
  • Ad campaign management (search and social ads)
  • Legal compliance review
  • Signing up for servers or domains on your behalf (they should be in your name)
  • Writing the body copy of the page, or SEO articles

How it works

For the Standard plan, allow about 3–4 weeks from receiving your materials to launch.

  1. Inquiry & free consultation

Time guide: Same day to 2 business days

Contact me by form or email. We’ll talk online (Zoom or Google Meet) for about 30 minutes about your goals and budget. You’re welcome to just ask questions.

  2. Quote & contract

    Time guide: 2–3 business days

You’ll get a quote that spells out scope, schedule, revisions and payment terms. Once you’re happy, we sign a service agreement and you pay a 50% deposit. NDAs available.

  3. Discovery & materials

    Time guide: 3–5 business days

You fill in a short questionnaire so we can clarify your audience, strengths and goal. I collect your logo, photos, copy and other materials at this stage.

  4. Wireframe

    Time guide: 3–5 business days

I present a wireframe with the section order and headings, and we lock the content here before any design begins. (On the Light plan, I design directly from the copy and structure you provide.)

  5. Design

    Time guide: 5–7 business days

I design the desktop and mobile layouts. Revisions are included up to your plan’s limit.

  6. Build & test page

    Time guide: 5–7 business days

You review the working page on your own phone and computer via a test URL.

  7. Launch & handover

    Time guide: 1–2 business days

I upload to your server, check the display and form, and go live. The project closes with the final 50% payment and delivery of all source files.

  8. After launch

Time guide: 30 days after launch (60 on Premium)

Any bugs found in this period are fixed free of charge. After that, updates are available through a maintenance plan (from ¥5,000/month) or quoted per request.

Time guides are in business days, excluding weekends, Japanese public holidays and the Vietnamese New Year (Tết). Time spent on your reviews is not included.

I want to build my track record through real client work. So in exchange for permission to show the finished page as a portfolio piece, I’m taking on a small number of projects at a special rate.

For clients who agree to let me publish the finished page, I’ll deliver the same scope as the Standard plan at a monitor rate of ¥98,000 (for businesses and sole proprietors).

FAQ

You don’t have client work yet. Can I trust you with a project?

To be upfront: as a freelancer, I don’t have paid client projects to show yet. Instead, I’ve published four concept pages as live sites, so you can judge my thinking and build quality directly. During a project you review the wireframe, the design and a working test page, so there are no surprises at the end. Bring any concerns to the free consultation.

Do you use AI tools? What about confidentiality?

Yes, I sometimes use generative AI for code drafts and wording checks. I never enter your confidential or personal information into AI tools without your permission, and I never deliver AI output as-is: structure, design decisions and final review are mine. If you’d prefer I not use AI tools, tell me before we sign.

You’re based overseas. What about time zones and communication?

Vietnam is 2 hours behind Japan. I’m available 9:00–18:00 Japan time on weekdays (7:00–16:00 in Vietnam) and reply to messages within 24 hours on weekdays. I work over email, Chatwork or Slack, with calls on Zoom or Google Meet, and I’m happy to use whatever you already use. After every call, I send a written summary of what we decided. I’m off on weekends, Japanese public holidays and during the Vietnamese New Year (Tết), and I announce closures in advance.

How and when do I pay?

I invoice in Japanese yen and issue invoices as PDFs in Japanese. You can pay by international bank transfer (SWIFT, in yen) to my Vietnamese bank account, or via Wise. Normally 50% is due when we sign and the remaining 50% on delivery. The quote states who covers transfer fees.

Do you charge consumption tax? Can you issue a qualified invoice? What about withholding tax?

I’m a sole proprietor living outside Japan (in Vietnam), and all production work is done outside Japan. I therefore understand this transaction to be outside the scope of Japanese consumption tax, and no consumption tax is included in my invoices. I’m not registered as a qualified invoice issuer. Contracts that include a transfer of copyright may require your company to withhold income tax, so please check with your accounting team or tax accountant. If withholding applies, we’ll agree how the amount is handled at the quote stage, and I’ll help prepare the documents needed for a Japan–Vietnam tax treaty filing, such as a certificate of residence.

How many revisions are included?

Each plan has a set number of design-stage and post-build revisions (Light 2 + 1, Standard 3 + 1, Premium 4 + 2). Typo fixes and corrections of my own mistakes don’t count. Extra rounds or major structural changes are quoted in advance.

How long does it take? Can you rush it?

From receiving your materials: about 2 weeks for Light, 3–4 weeks for Standard and 5–6 weeks for Premium. Rush delivery is available for +30% of the base price, depending on my schedule, so please get in touch early.

What happens if I cancel partway through?

You pay only for the work completed up to that point. The breakdown by stage is written into the quote and contract.

Who owns the copyright?

Once payment is complete, copyright in the work (including the rights under Articles 27 and 28 of Japan’s Copyright Act) transfers to you, and I will not exercise my moral rights. You receive all source files. Generic code and components I owned before the project remain mine, but you may use them without restriction. Third-party assets such as stock photos and web fonts stay under their own licenses. I only show your project in my portfolio with your permission.

I don’t have copy or photos yet. Can I still hire you?

Yes, let’s talk. On every plan, you supply the body copy. On Standard, I edit your copy and suggest headlines. On Premium, I work out the messaging and provide headline ideas and structure notes, so you know exactly what to write and in what order before you start. If you have no photos, I’ll suggest commercially licensed stock (paid stock is billed at cost).

Which browsers and devices do you test on?

I check display and behavior in the latest Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Safari and Firefox, and on iPhone (Safari) and Android (Chrome). Internet Explorer is not supported.

Can you provide hosting and a domain?

Hosting and domains should be registered in your name, so you stay in control after launch. If you don’t have them yet, I’ll help you choose a provider and sign up, and I’ll handle the setup and upload.

Do you offer support after launch?

Bug fixes are free for 30 days after launch (60 days on Premium). After that, updates are available through a maintenance plan from ¥5,000/month or quoted per request.

Do you sign NDAs and contracts?

Yes. I’m happy to sign an NDA. Every project uses a written service agreement covering scope, schedule, price, payment terms, copyright and cancellation, and it can be signed electronically. The agreement is governed by Japanese law.

About me

Duong Quoc Tuan

Freelance LP designer & front-end developer

I’m a freelancer based in Hanoi, Vietnam. After 5 years as a bridge system engineer (BrSE), I now specialize in landing pages for Japanese businesses.

I’m still at the beginning of my track record with clients, which is exactly why I give every project my full attention and explain my reasoning at each step, from structure to post-launch tracking. A landing page only does its job when visitors take action, and that idea guides every page I design.
